Sarah's Story

Hi, I’m Nick, on a mission to Make Work Better! Using lessons from personal adversity, I teach human skills as a wellbeing speaker and product coach.

In 2021 I burned out, after 15 years in digital leadership roles. Initially I blamed myself but eventually saw the truth; a toxic workplace culture at odds with my values. Burning out was a surreal experience. Stressed, anxious and depressed, like being an observer on your own life. Physically present but mentally disconnected; existing but not living.

Now I’m not just recovered; I’m thriving. Through BAD* Human I want to stop others experiencing toxicity and burnout. Healthy and flourishing people = healthy and flourishing profits.

Amy Polly, Chief Mindfulness Rebel and founder of Funfulness Inc, is a mindfulness teacher, international speaker and neurodiversity advocate. A recovering accountant, whose career in finance spanned 19 years, with her last role being Head of Finance and Property within the Fire Service. Whilst sitting on the leadership team within Fire, she also took on the role of Strategic Lead for Mental Health and Wellbeing, creating and implementing the strategy, where she finally realised how to bring together her passion for people, and mindfulness, in the corporate world.

Amy now delivers workshops, courses and talks across the UK, raising awareness of the importance of understanding mental health and neurodiversity in the workplace, the power of mindfulness and her own personal journey, and how strategies can be pulled together to get the best from yourself, others, and business. Amy brings a big dose of fun and an emphasis on joy in all she does.

A few years ago, I quit my agency job. It had all of the classic traits:

  • Overworked staff
  • Poor salary range
  • Tasks without the titles
  • Training superiors the role
  • Overlooked for promotions
  • High staff turnover

I started my own agency Titanium22 with a focus on health & team wellness. Sharing my story on LinkedIn has also helped me overcome the trauma of a toxic workplace and that there is always hope.

That’s why I wanted to create a community like BAD* Human – a place for people to share, feel valued, and gain resources to overcome or leave toxic workplaces. It’s another reason why I created the Healthy Agency Guide part 1 & 2.
